Well, we have just had the warmest winter on record here. Looks like it will be a sunny summer ! Akaroa is as always beautiful.....we saw a dozen or so rare Hector's dolphins this week at the head of the harbour. Do not forget to look for the seals on the portside at Akaroa Heads if you arrive on a cruise ship. I am happy to say the famous Akaroa Fish and Chip Shop is back open after an.unfortunate fire . The Christchurch rebuild is underway, so some buildings are now refurbished and new architecture such as the new Christchurch Cathedral have opened. The Botanic Gardens and Canterbury Museum area are as always timeless and untouched by the earthquakes. The Boatshed Cafe is always a wonderful place to have a relaxing coffee or lunch by the Avon River. I look forward to showing around Christchurch and Banks Peninsula if you join our tour at the end of Akaroa Wharf (look for our "E S Tours" sign). Please e-mail me to reserve a seat as it may get very busy on cruise days .Our tours have a maximum of 11 passengers (often less than that) so are small and friendly......get away from the coaches and crowds. We can take the smaller , interesting routes where coach tours do not go !.I look forward to showing you around !
